A Bit about Me:

Maren is an award-winning costume designer/artisan with over 20 years of experience designing costumes. She received her BFA in Costume Design from Utah State University and went on to continue her education with an MFA in Costume Design from San Diego State University. While at SDSU, Maren taught period costume movement and manners and was an active student member of United States Institute of Theatre and Technology (USITT), participating in Design Expo and TECH Expo. She was also a member of the Costume Society of America.

As a technician, Maren has worked in shops from Brigham YoungUniversity to The LaJolla Playhouse, San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre, Lamb’s Players, and PCPA Theatrefest. Locally, she has designed for The Lyric Rep, Music Theater West, Green Canyon High School, Sky View High School’s Sky High Players, Smithfield Youth Theatre, Serendipity Dance Company, the Celebrate America Show, Cache Theatre Company, and the Green Canyon High School and SVHS Marching Bands and Color Guards.

Design credits include: Big River; the completely orange children’s production of OPQRS, Etc., which was a design finalist at the ACTF Festivention in Anaheim, CA; Les Misérables, Student Ed., Aida, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man, Oklahoma!, Pirates of Penzance, Sleeping Beauty, Western-Style, Hansel and Gretel, The 12 Dancing Princesses, Flora, the Red Menace, Macbeth, Abducting Diana, She Loves Me!, Me and My Girl, and Lysistrata, which won a Paté Award Salute to Theatre Excellence for Best Costume Design in the Greater San Diego area. Music Theatre West credits include: Jane Eyre; Little Women, Guys and Dolls, The Secret Garden, Death of a Diva, Once on this Island, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Diamonds and Demons, My Fair Lady, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Maren and her husband, Chris, have three daughters. When not with her family or in front of a sewing machine, her latest loves are tap- dancing and traveling.
